Indications:
FLUPEN 500 MG is used for the treatment of schizophrenia, psychotic disorders, and persistent hallucinations or delusions. It helps improve mood and behavior in patients with chronic psychosis.
Pharmacology:
FLUPEN contains Flupenthixol, a thioxanthene derivative that acts as a dopamine receptor antagonist. It modulates dopamine activity in the brain, reducing psychotic symptoms by blocking dopamine D2 receptors.
Dosage:
The usual dose varies depending on the condition:
Adults: 0.5 mg to 3 mg daily orally or as prescribed by the physician.
Dosage may be adjusted based on clinical response and tolerability.
Administration:
Take orally with or without food, preferably at the same time each day.
Do not abruptly stop the medication without medical advice.
Interaction:
May interact with CNS depressants, other antipsychotics, antihypertensives, and medications that prolong QT interval. Consult your doctor for all current medications before use.
Contraindications:
Hypersensitivity to flupenthixol or related compounds.
Severe CNS depression, comatose states, or bone marrow suppression.

Side Effects:
