Indications:
Treatment of localized bacterial skin infections such as impetigo, infected eczema, folliculitis, and minor wounds.
Pharmacology:
Mupirocin inhibits bacterial protein synthesis by reversibly binding to isoleucyl-tRNA synthetase, preventing bacterial growth and replication.
Dosage:
Apply a small amount of Rupsol ointment to the affected area 2-3 times daily or as directed by the physician.
Administration:
Topical application on clean, dry skin. Wash hands before and after applying the ointment.
Interaction:
Minimal systemic absorption; unlikely to interact with other drugs when applied topically.
Contraindications:
Hypersensitivity to mupirocin or any ointment components.
Side Effects:
Possible local reactions include itching, burning, redness, or rash at the application site.
Pregnancy & Lactation:
Generally considered safe for topical use during pregnancy and lactation, but consult a healthcare professional before use.
