Indications:
Treatment of localized bacterial skin infections including impetigo, folliculitis, and infected minor wounds.
Pharmacology:
Mupirocin inhibits bacterial isoleucyl-tRNA synthetase, preventing protein synthesis and bacterial growth, leading to bacterial death.
Dosage:
Apply a small amount of ointment to the affected area 2-3 times daily or as prescribed by the physician.
Administration:
Topical use only. Clean and dry the affected area before application.
Interaction:
Minimal systemic absorption; interactions are rare. Inform your healthcare provider about other topical treatments used.
Contraindications:
Hypersensitivity to mupirocin or any component of the ointment.
