Long Description:
Indications:
SLIPTIN 50 MG is indicated for the management of type 2 diabetes mellitus to improve glycemic control when diet and exercise alone are insufficient.
Pharmacology:
Glipizide, the active ingredient, is a sulfonylurea that stimulates pancreatic beta cells to release insulin, thereby lowering blood glucose levels.
Dosage:
Typical starting dose is 5 mg once daily before breakfast. Dosage can be adjusted based on patient response, up to a maximum of 40 mg daily in divided doses.
Administration:
Administer orally 30 minutes before meals. Swallow tablets whole with a glass of water.
Interaction:
May interact with beta-blockers, diuretics, corticosteroids, and other antidiabetic agents. Concomitant use with alcohol can cause hypoglycemia or disulfiram-like reactions. Always consult your physician before combining medications.
Contraindications:
Hypersensitivity to glipizide or sulfonylureas, type 1 diabetes mellitus, diabetic ketoacidosis, severe renal or hepatic impairment.
Side Effects:
Hypoglycemia, nausea, dizziness, headache, weight gain, allergic skin reactions, and gastrointestinal discomfort.
Pregnancy & Lactation:
Use only if clearly needed. Insulin is preferred during pregnancy. Consult your physician before use during pregnancy or lactation.
