Indications:
AZIMEX 500 MG is indicated for the treatment of respiratory tract infections, skin and soft tissue infections, sexually transmitted infections, and other bacterial infections caused by susceptible organisms.
Pharmacology:
Azithromycin is a macrolide antibiotic that inhibits bacterial protein synthesis by binding to the 50S ribosomal subunit, thus preventing bacterial growth. It has a broad spectrum against Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria.
Dosage:
Adults: 500 mg once daily for 3 days or as prescribed by a physician. Pediatric dosage varies according to body weight and infection type.
Administration:
Oral administration, preferably on an empty stomach with water.
Interaction:
May interact with antacids, warfarin, and some other drugs; inform your doctor about all medications you are taking.
Contraindications:
Known hypersensitivity to Azithromycin, other macrolides, or any component of the formulation.
Side Effects:
Common side effects include gastrointestinal disturbances such as nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and abdominal pain. Rarely, allergic reactions may occur.
Pregnancy & Lactation:
Category B — use only if clearly needed and prescribed by a doctor.
Precautions & Warnings:
Use cautiously in patients with liver dysfunction or prolonged QT interval. Discontinue if signs of hypersensitivity or severe side effects occur.
