Indications:
Prelin 75 mg Capsule is indicated for the treatment of:
Neuropathic pain associated with diabetic peripheral neuropathy
Postherpetic neuralgia
Fibromyalgia
Generalized anxiety disorder in adults
Adjunctive therapy for partial-onset seizures in adults
Pharmacology:
Pregabalin, the active ingredient in Prelin, is a structural derivative of the inhibitory neurotransmitter gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA). It binds with high affinity to the alpha2-delta subunit of voltage-gated calcium channels in the central nervous system, reducing the release of excitatory neurotransmitters and calming overactive nerves.
Dosage:
Neuropathic pain (e.g., diabetic peripheral neuropathy): Start with 75 mg twice daily; may increase to 150 mg twice daily within 1 week based on efficacy and tolerability.
Postherpetic neuralgia: 75 to 150 mg twice daily; may increase to 300 mg/day within 1 week.
Fibromyalgia: 75 mg twice daily; may increase to 150 mg twice daily within 1 week.
Generalized anxiety disorder: Start with 75 mg twice daily; may increase to 150 mg twice daily within 1 week.
Partial-onset seizures: As adjunctive therapy, the recommended dose is 150 to 600 mg/day.
Administration:
Prelin 75 mg Capsule can be taken with or without food. It should be swallowed whole with water. Do not split, crush, or chew the capsule. The dosage should be taken at the same time each day to maintain consistent blood levels.
Interaction:
Prelin may interact with other central nervous system depressants, such as benzodiazepines, opioids, and alcohol, increasing the risk of drowsiness and dizziness. Inform your doctor of all medications you are taking to avoid potential interactions.
Contraindications:
Prelin is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to pregabalin or any of its components.
