Indications:
Indicated for the prevention and treatment of calcium and Vitamin D₃ deficiency, osteoporosis, osteomalacia, rickets, and to meet increased calcium needs during pregnancy, lactation, and postmenopausal states.
Pharmacology:
Calcium Carbonate is a rich source of elemental calcium, necessary for bone formation and maintenance. Vitamin D₃ (Cholecalciferol) facilitates the absorption of calcium and phosphorus in the intestine, helping in bone mineralization and preventing bone diseases.
Dosage:
Adults: 1–2 tablets daily or as directed by the physician.
Children: As prescribed by a healthcare professional.
Administration:
Take orally after meals with water. Do not chew or crush the tablet unless recommended.
Interaction:
May interact with iron, thyroid hormones, tetracycline or quinolone antibiotics by reducing their absorption. Spacing doses is advised.
Contraindications:
Contraindicated in patients with hypercalcemia, hypervitaminosis D, severe renal impairment, or known hypersensitivity to any component.
Side Effects:
Generally well-tolerated. Occasionally may cause constipation, flatulence, or stomach upset. High doses can lead to hypercalcemia or kidney stones.
Pregnancy & Lactation:
Safe at recommended doses during pregnancy and breastfeeding. High doses should be avoided unless prescribed by a physician.
Precautions & Warnings:
Avoid excessive intake. Monitor serum calcium levels in long-term use or in patients with renal impairment. Use with caution in patients prone to kidney stones.
