Indications:
MYDIPIN 10 MG is indicated for the management of hypertension (high blood pressure) to reduce the risk of cardiovascular events and protect end-organs such as the heart, kidneys, and eyes. It is particularly useful in elderly patients and those with diabetes or albuminuria.
Pharmacology:
Cilnidipine is a dihydropyridine calcium channel blocker. It inhibits calcium influx through L-type and N-type voltage-gated calcium channels in vascular smooth muscle and sympathetic nerve terminals. This dual action results in vasodilation and reduced norepinephrine release, effectively lowering blood pressure without causing reflex tachycardia.
Dosage:
Adults: 5–10 mg once daily after breakfast.
Maximum dose: 20 mg once daily.
Elderly patients: Initiate treatment with the lowest possible dose (5 mg) due to increased sensitivity to hypotension.
Administration:
Take orally with or without food.
Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water.
Do not chew or crush the tablet.
Interaction:
May interact with other antihypertensive agents, antipsychotics, quinidine, carbamazepine, phenytoin, rifampicin, cimetidine, and erythromycin.
Monitor blood pressure regularly when used concomitantly with other blood pressure-lowering medications.
