FINTOP 10GM is indicated for the topical treatment of the following superficial dermatophytes:
Interdigital Tinea Pedis (Athlete's Foot): A fungal infection affecting the spaces between the toes.
Tinea Corporis (Ringworm): A fungal infection of the body characterized by ring-shaped, red, itchy patches.
Tinea Cruris (Jock Itch): A fungal infection affecting the groin area.
Pityriasis Versicolor: A fungal infection causing discolored patches on the skin.
Butenafine, the active ingredient in FINTOP, is a synthetic antifungal agent related to allylamine antifungals. It works by inhibiting squalene monooxygenase, an enzyme involved in sterol biosynthesis in fungi. This inhibition leads to a decrease in ergosterol, a vital component of the fungal cell membrane, resulting in increased membrane permeability and fungal cell death.
Tinea Pedis (Athlete's Foot): Apply twice daily for 7 days or once daily for 4 weeks.
Tinea Corporis (Ringworm) & Tinea Cruris (Jock Itch): Apply once daily for 2 weeks.
Pityriasis Versicolor: Apply once daily for 2 weeks.
Ensure the affected area is clean and dry before application. Apply a sufficient amount of cream to cover the affected area and surrounding skin.
Potential drug interactions between butenafine HCl cream and other drugs have not been evaluated. No known food interactions.
Hypersensitivity to butenafine or any component of the formulation.
Not for ophthalmic, oral, or intravaginal use.
Common: Mild burning or stinging sensation at the application site.
Less Common: Contact dermatitis, erythema (redness), itching, skin irritation.
Pregnancy Category C: Use during pregnancy only if clearly needed and prescribed by a doctor.
Lactation: It is not known if butenafine HCl is excreted in human milk. Caution should be exercised when prescribing butenafine cream to a nursing woman.
