**Indications:**
RATINOL FORTE is indicated for the prevention and treatment of vitamin A deficiency, night blindness, xerophthalmia, keratomalacia, certain skin disorders like acne and psoriasis, and in cases of poor dietary intake or malabsorption.
**Pharmacology:**
RATINOL FORTE contains Retinol Palmitate (Vitamin A) 50000 IU. Vitamin A is a fat-soluble vitamin essential for normal vision, immune function, reproduction, and cellular communication. It supports the maintenance of epithelial tissues and the integrity of mucosal surfaces.
**Dosage & Administration:**
Adults: Typically 50,000 IU orally once daily or as directed by a physician.
Dosage should be adjusted based on the severity of deficiency and clinical condition. Avoid prolonged high doses unless under strict medical supervision.
**Interaction:**
May interact with isotretinoin, oral contraceptives, and anticoagulants like warfarin. Alcohol and certain drugs that impair liver function may enhance toxicity.
**Contraindications:**
Hypersensitivity to vitamin A. Not recommended in hypervitaminosis A, severe liver disease, or during early pregnancy unless clearly indicated.
**Side Effects:**
May include nausea, headache, dizziness, dry skin, irritability, and fatigue. Chronic overdose may lead to liver damage, bone thinning, and intracranial hypertension.
**Pregnancy & Lactation:**
High doses of vitamin A (>10,000 IU/day) during pregnancy may cause birth defects. RATINOL FORTE should only be used in pregnancy if prescribed with caution. Safe during lactation at recommended doses.
**Precautions & Warnings:**
Avoid long-term use at high doses without medical monitoring. Use with caution in patients with liver dysfunction or who consume alcohol regularly.
