Long Description:
Indications:
Treatment of hypertension, especially in patients not adequately controlled by monotherapy.
Pharmacology:
Telmisartan is an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB) causing vasodilation and blood pressure reduction. Hydrochlorothiazide is a thiazide diuretic that reduces blood volume by increasing urine output.
Dosage:
One tablet once daily or as prescribed by the physician.
Administration:
Oral administration, with or without food, preferably at the same time each day.
Interaction:
May interact with potassium supplements, lithium, NSAIDs, other antihypertensives, and drugs affecting kidney function.
Contraindications:
Hypersensitivity to components, pregnancy, breastfeeding, severe renal impairment, and anuria.
Side Effects:
Possible side effects include dizziness, hypotension, electrolyte imbalance, headache, and increased urination.
Pregnancy & Lactation:
Contraindicated during pregnancy; use with caution during lactation.
Precautions & Warnings:
Monitor blood pressure, kidney function, and electrolytes regularly. Use cautiously in patients with renal or hepatic impairment.
Therapeutic Class:
Antihypertensive, ARB and thiazide diuretic combination.
