Indications:
Prevention and treatment of chronic stable angina pectoris. -
Pharmacology:
Nicorandil acts as a nitrate donor and ATP-sensitive potassium channel opener, causing vasodilation of coronary arteries and peripheral vessels. -
Dosage:
Typical dose is 0.5 mg twice daily, adjusted based on response and tolerance. -
Administration:
Oral administration with or without food, preferably at the same time each day. -
Interaction:
May interact with other nitrates, antihypertensives, and drugs affecting blood pressure. -
Contraindications:
Hypersensitivity to Nicorandil, severe hypotension, shock, and recent myocardial infarction. -
Side Effects:
Common side effects include headache, dizziness, flushing, and gastrointestinal discomfort. -
Pregnancy & Lactation:
Use only if clearly needed during pregnancy; consult doctor before breastfeeding. -
Precautions & Warnings:
Monitor blood pressure regularly; avoid abrupt discontinuation. -
