Indications:
FUSIBAC H 10GM is indicated for:
Bacterial skin infections such as impetigo, infected eczema, folliculitis, and infected dermatitis.
Inflammatory skin conditions where bacterial infection is present, as it provides both antibiotic and anti-inflammatory effects.
Treatment of inflammation and infection caused by conditions like insect bites, rashes, and wounds.
Pharmacology:
FUSIBAC H 10GM contains two active ingredients:
Fusidic Acid: An antibiotic that inhibits bacterial protein synthesis, effectively treating bacterial infections.
Hydrocortisone: A corticosteroid that reduces inflammation, redness, swelling, and itching, enhancing the healing process in infected or irritated skin.
Dosage:
Apply a thin layer of FUSIBAC H 10GM cream to the affected area 2-3 times daily or as directed by your healthcare provider.
Use the cream until the infection and inflammation are under control, but do not exceed the recommended duration of treatment.
Wash and dry the affected area before application.
Administration:
Apply directly to the skin over the infected or inflamed area.
Avoid applying to broken or very sensitive skin unless directed by a healthcare provider.
Do not use on large areas of skin for prolonged periods unless prescribed by a doctor.
If used on the face, avoid the eyes and mucous membranes.
Interaction:
FUSIBAC H 10GM is for topical use only, and interactions with other medications are unlikely. However, it may interact with other topical treatments applied to the skin.
Systemic corticosteroids may enhance the effects of hydrocortisone, so care should be taken when using other corticosteroid-based treatments concurrently.
Contraindications:
Hypersensitivity to fusidic acid, hydrocortisone, or any component of the formulation.
Viral skin infections (e.g., chickenpox, herpes simplex).
Fungal infections.
Tuberculosis or untreated fungal or viral infections of the skin.
Active untreated rosacea or perioral dermatitis.
Side Effects:
Common side effects include:
Localized skin irritation, burning, itching, or redness at the site of application.
Prolonged use may lead to skin thinning or striae (stretch marks).
Systemic absorption in rare cases could cause side effects of corticosteroids such as increased blood sugar levels or adrenal suppression.
Pregnancy & Lactation:
Pregnancy: FUSIBAC H 10GM should be used during pregnancy only if clearly needed and under the guidance of a healthcare provider. Avoid long-term use or large-area application.
Lactation: It is excreted in breast milk in small amounts, so it should be used cautiously during breastfeeding. Avoid applying to the breast area to prevent infant exposure.
