Indications:
VORIZOL 50 is used for the treatment of invasive fungal infections like invasive aspergillosis, candidiasis, and other systemic fungal infections.
Pharmacology:
Voriconazole inhibits lanosterol 14α-demethylase, an enzyme vital for fungal cell membrane synthesis, disrupting ergosterol production and leading to fungal cell death.
Dosage:
Typical adult dose is 50 mg orally twice daily; dose adjustments may be required based on severity and patient response.
Administration:
Take orally with or without food, following the doctor’s prescription.
Interaction:
Interacts with drugs such as rifampicin, phenytoin, carbamazepine, and warfarin. Inform your healthcare provider about all medications.
Contraindications:
Known hypersensitivity to voriconazole or azole antifungals; use with caution in liver disease.
Side Effects:
Possible side effects include visual disturbances, nausea, rash, headache, and elevated liver enzymes.
Pregnancy & Lactation:
