Indications:
Used to treat hypertension when monotherapy with telmisartan or hydrochlorothiazide is inadequate. Helps lower blood pressure and reduce cardiovascular risk.
Pharmacology:
Telmisartan: Blocks angiotensin II receptors, causing vasodilation and reduced aldosterone secretion.
Hydrochlorothiazide: A thiazide diuretic that increases excretion of sodium and water, reducing blood volume and pressure.
Dosage:
Usually one tablet once daily or as directed by the physician.
Administration:
Take orally with or without food, preferably at the same time daily.
Interaction:
Possible interactions with potassium supplements, other antihypertensives, NSAIDs, lithium, and drugs affecting renal function.
Contraindications:
Hypersensitivity to components.
Anuria, severe renal/hepatic impairment, pregnancy, and breastfeeding.
Side Effects:
Dizziness, hypotension, electrolyte imbalance, increased urination, headache, and fatigue.
Pregnancy & Lactation:
Contraindicated during pregnancy and lactation.
Therapeutic Class:
Combination antihypertensive (ARB + thiazide diuretic).
