Indications:
Diproxen 500 mg is indicated for the relief of mild to moderate pain, inflammation, and fever associated with conditions such as arthritis, muscle pain, menstrual cramps, and other inflammatory disorders.
Pharmacology:
Naproxen is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug that inhibits cyclooxygenase (COX-1 and COX-2) enzymes, reducing prostaglandin synthesis which leads to decreased inflammation and pain.
Dosage:
Adults: 250-500 mg twice daily or as prescribed by physician.
Dose adjustment may be necessary for elderly or patients with renal impairment.
Administration:
Oral administration with food to minimize gastrointestinal irritation. Swallow tablets whole.
Interaction:
May interact with anticoagulants, other NSAIDs, corticosteroids, ACE inhibitors, and diuretics. Use with caution and monitor for adverse effects.
Contraindications:
Known hypersensitivity to Naproxen or other NSAIDs
Active gastrointestinal bleeding or ulcers
Severe heart failure, renal or hepatic impairment
Side Effects:
Common side effects include gastrointestinal discomfort, nausea, dizziness, and increased risk of bleeding. Rarely, serious gastrointestinal or cardiovascular events may occur.
Pregnancy & Lactation:
Avoid use during third trimester of pregnancy. Consult doctor before use during pregnancy or breastfeeding.
Precautions & Warnings:
Use lowest effective dose for shortest duration.
Monitor for signs of gastrointestinal bleeding.
Caution in patients with cardiovascular risk factors.
