Indications:
Prevention of atherothrombotic events such as myocardial infarction, ischemic stroke, and peripheral arterial disease. Used in patients with recent heart attack, stroke, or established peripheral artery disease.
Pharmacology:
Clopidogrel inhibits platelet aggregation by irreversibly blocking the P2Y12 ADP receptor on platelets, reducing clot formation.
Dosage:
Typical dose is 75-150 mg daily as prescribed by physician. PAIR 10 MG usually given once daily.
Administration:
Oral administration, with or without food.
Interaction:
May interact with anticoagulants, NSAIDs, and proton pump inhibitors. Inform your healthcare provider about all medications.
Contraindications:
Active bleeding, hypersensitivity to clopidogrel, severe liver impairment.
Side Effects:
Bleeding, bruising, gastrointestinal discomfort, rash, and rare thrombocytopenia.
