Indications:
Demoxiclave 375 is indicated for the treatment of infections caused by beta-lactamase producing bacteria, including respiratory tract infections, urinary tract infections (UTIs), otitis media, sinusitis, skin and soft tissue infections, and dental infections.

Pharmacology:
Amoxicillin is a penicillin-class antibiotic that inhibits bacterial cell wall synthesis. Clavulanic Acid is a beta-lactamase inhibitor that protects amoxicillin from enzymatic degradation. This combination extends the spectrum of amoxicillin to cover beta-lactamase producing strains.

Dosage:
Adults and children over 12 years: One tablet (375 mg) every 8 hours or as directed by a physician.
Children under 12: Dosage adjusted based on body weight and clinical condition.

Administration:
To be taken orally with or after food to minimize gastrointestinal discomfort. Swallow whole with water.

Interaction:
May interact with anticoagulants (e.g., warfarin), allopurinol (increases risk of rash), and methotrexate (increases toxicity). Avoid alcohol during treatment.

Contraindications:
Contraindicated in patients with a history of allergic reactions to penicillins, cephalosporins, or beta-lactam antibiotics. Also contraindicated in patients with a history of hepatic dysfunction associated with this drug.

Side Effects:
Common side effects include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and skin rash. Rarely, hepatic dysfunction, cholestatic jaundice, or Clostridium difficile-associated diarrhea may occur.

Pregnancy & Lactation:
Generally safe during pregnancy (Category B) when clearly needed. Excreted in breast milk in small amounts; use with caution during lactation.

Precautions & Warnings:
Use with caution in patients with hepatic impairment or renal dysfunction. Monitor liver function during prolonged therapy. Complete the full course to prevent resistance.

Therapeutic Class:
Penicillin and beta-lactamase inhibitor combination
