**Indications:**
SLIPTIN 25 MG is indicated as an adjunct to diet and exercise to improve glycemic control in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus, either as monotherapy or in combination with other antidiabetic agents.
**Pharmacology:**
SLIPTIN contains Sitagliptin, a dipeptidyl peptidase-4 (DPP-4) inhibitor. It increases the levels of active incretin hormones, which stimulate insulin release and suppress glucagon secretion in a glucose-dependent manner, thereby improving glycemic control.
**Dosage & Administration:**
The usual recommended dose is 25 mg once daily. Dose adjustments may be necessary in patients with renal impairment. Can be taken with or without food.
**Interaction:**
May interact with digoxin (increased levels), and when used with sulfonylureas or insulin, there is an increased risk of hypoglycemia. Monitor blood glucose levels closely.
**Contraindications:**
Hypersensitivity to Sitagliptin or any component of the product. Not for use in patients with type 1 diabetes or for the treatment of diabetic ketoacidosis.
**Side Effects:**
Common side effects include upper respiratory tract infection, headache, and nasopharyngitis. Rarely, pancreatitis, hypersensitivity reactions, and joint pain may occur.
**Pregnancy & Lactation:**
Use only if clearly needed and prescribed. Safety in pregnancy and lactation has not been fully established; caution is advised.
**Precautions & Warnings:**
Monitor renal function before and during treatment. Observe for signs of pancreatitis. Use cautiously in elderly patients and those with pre-existing renal conditions.
