Indications:
Functional dyspepsia
Non-ulcer dyspepsia
Esophageal reflux and reflux esophagitis
Acute treatment of nausea and vomiting in adults
Nausea and vomiting caused by L-dopa and bromocriptine for up to 12 weeks
Pharmacology:
Domperidone is a dopamine antagonist that acts peripherally to enhance gastrointestinal motility and accelerate gastric emptying without affecting gastric acid secretion.
Dosage:
Adults: 10 mg three times daily before meals
Children: Dosage based on body weight, as prescribed by a physician
Administration:
Oral suspension; shake well before use. Administer with or without food as directed by a healthcare provider.
Interaction:
May interact with antacids, certain antifungals, and antibiotics. Inform your healthcare provider about all medications being taken.
Contraindications:
Hypersensitivity to domperidone
Gastrointestinal bleeding, obstruction, or perforation
Prolactin-releasing pituitary tumors
Concurrent use with drugs that prolong QT interval
Side Effects:
Common side effects include dry mouth, abdominal cramps, and headache. Rare but serious effects may include arrhythmias and extrapyramidal symptoms.
Pregnancy & Lactation:
Use only if clearly needed during pregnancy. Consult a doctor before use during breastfeeding.
