Indications:
DIPA 10 mg is indicated for the relief of allergic conditions such as rhinitis, urticaria, and pruritus. It is also used to treat insomnia and prevent or treat motion sickness.
Pharmacology:
Diphenhydramine is a first-generation antihistamine that blocks H1 histamine receptors, reducing allergy symptoms. It also has sedative and anticholinergic properties.
Dosage:
Adults: 25-50 mg every 4-6 hours as needed, not to exceed 300 mg per day.
Dosage may vary for children under medical supervision.
Administration:
Oral use. Take with or without food. Avoid alcohol as it may increase drowsiness.
Interaction:
May interact with CNS depressants, alcohol, monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs), and other anticholinergic drugs.
Contraindications:
Hypersensitivity to Diphenhydramine or related compounds
Newborns or premature infants
Patients with narrow-angle glaucoma or urinary retention
Side Effects:
Common side effects include drowsiness, dry mouth, dizziness, and blurred vision.
Pregnancy & Lactation:
Use only if clearly needed and prescribed by a physician. Consult healthcare provider before use during pregnancy or lactation.
Precautions & Warnings:
Use caution when driving or operating machinery due to sedation.
Avoid alcohol and other CNS depressants.
