Indications:
MIGON 5 MG is indicated for acute treatment of migraine attacks with or without aura in adults.
Pharmacology:
Sumatriptan is a selective 5-HT1 receptor agonist that causes vasoconstriction of cranial blood vessels and inhibits release of neuropeptides, reducing migraine pain and inflammation.
Dosage:
One 5 mg tablet orally at migraine onset.
May repeat dose after 2 hours if needed; maximum 15 mg in 24 hours.
Administration:
Take orally with or without food. Follow physician’s directions strictly.
Interaction:
Avoid combining with other triptans, SSRIs, MAO inhibitors, and ergot derivatives to prevent serotonin syndrome.
Contraindications:
Hypersensitivity to sumatriptan.
Cardiovascular disease, uncontrolled hypertension, history of stroke.
Use within 24 hours of ergotamine or other triptan drugs.
Side Effects:
Common side effects include dizziness, flushing, tingling, chest tightness, nausea, and fatigue.
Pregnancy & Lactation:
Use only if clearly needed and prescribed by a doctor. Consult before use in pregnancy or breastfeeding.
