Permethrin, the active ingredient in Licerin, is a synthetic pyrethroid that works by interfering with the nervous system of the parasites (lice and scabies mites).
It paralyzes the parasites, preventing them from feeding or reproducing, and eventually kills them.
Permethrin has minimal absorption into the bloodstream when applied topically, making it effective and safe for use on the skin.
For scabies: Apply a thin layer of Licerin 15 gm to the entire body, from the neck down to the toes, and leave it on for 8–14 hours before washing it off.
For lice: Apply to the scalp and hair, leave it on for about 10 minutes, then wash it off thoroughly.
Repeat treatment after 7 days if necessary, depending on the doctor's advice.
Topical Use Only: Apply Licerin 15 gm to the affected area of the skin or scalp.
For scabies: Use a sufficient amount to cover the entire body, excluding the face and eyes.
For lice: Apply directly to the hair and scalp.
Wash hands thoroughly after applying, and avoid contact with the eyes or mouth.
Licerin 15 gm is for external use only, and there are no known significant drug interactions when used topically.
Avoid using other topical treatments for the skin unless recommended by your doctor to avoid unnecessary irritation.
Do not apply on open wounds or broken skin without medical guidance.
Hypersensitivity to permethrin or any of its components.
Avoid use in patients with known skin allergies or severe irritation to topical treatments.
Do not apply near the eyes, mouth, or mucous membranes.
Should not be used on infants under 2 months of age unless specifically advised by a healthcare professional.
Common side effects include skin irritation, redness, itching, and dryness at the site of application.
Rare side effects may include burning, swelling, stinging, or rash. These are typically mild and resolve after a few hours.
If you experience severe irritation or allergic reactions, such as swelling of the face or lips, difficulty breathing, or dizziness, seek immediate medical attention.
Pregnancy: Permethrin is generally considered safe during pregnancy when applied topically, as minimal absorption into the bloodstream occurs. However, it should only be used when prescribed by a healthcare provider.
Lactation: Permethrin is unlikely to pass into breast milk in significant amounts, but breastfeeding mothers should consult a doctor before using it.
