Indications:
TIGA 90MG is indicated for improving glycemic control in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus, as monotherapy or in combination with other antidiabetic agents.
Pharmacology:
Sitagliptin is a dipeptidyl peptidase-4 (DPP-4) inhibitor that increases the levels of incretin hormones (GLP-1 and GIP). These hormones stimulate insulin secretion and suppress glucagon release in a glucose-dependent manner, resulting in improved blood glucose regulation.
Dosage:
The usual recommended dose is 100 mg once daily with or without food. Dose adjustment may be required in patients with renal impairment.
Administration:
Take orally once daily, at the same time each day, with or without food. Swallow the tablet whole with water.
Interaction:
May interact with medications such as insulin or sulfonylureas, increasing the risk of hypoglycemia. Dose adjustment and monitoring may be necessary.
Contraindications:
Known hypersensitivity to sitagliptin or any component of the formulation.
Side Effects:
Possible side effects include headache, nasopharyngitis, upper respiratory tract infection, nausea, and rare cases of pancreatitis and hypersensitivity reactions.
Pregnancy & Lactation:
Safety during pregnancy and lactation has not been well established. Use only if clearly needed and prescribed by a physician.
