Indications:
Treatment of premature ejaculation (PE) in adult men aged 18–64 years
Helps improve ejaculation control and prolong time before ejaculation
Pharmacology:
Dapoxetine is a short-acting selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI). It works by increasing serotonin activity in the nervous system, which delays the ejaculation reflex and improves control over ejaculation.
Dosage:
Recommended starting dose: 30 mg, taken 1 to 3 hours before anticipated sexual activity
May be increased to 60 mg based on tolerability and efficacy
Not to be used more than once in 24 hours
Administration:
Take orally with a full glass of water. It can be taken with or without food.
Interaction:
Contraindicated with MAO inhibitors, SSRIs, thioridazine, and potent CYP3A4 inhibitors (e.g., ketoconazole)
Caution with CNS depressants and alcohol
May cause additive hypotensive effects with alpha-blockers
Contraindications:
Hypersensitivity to Dapoxetine
History of mania, bipolar disorder, or significant psychiatric conditions
Significant cardiac disorders such as heart failure or arrhythmias
Moderate to severe liver impairment
Side Effects:
Nausea, dizziness, headache
Diarrhea, insomnia, dry mouth
Rarely: syncope (fainting), mood changes, or seizures
Pregnancy & Lactation:
Not indicated for use in women. Safety in pregnancy or lactation is not established.
Precautions & Warnings:
Avoid alcohol consumption due to increased risk of dizziness or fainting
Not suitable for men with heart or liver problems
Monitor for psychiatric symptoms such as depression or suicidal thoughts
