NEBIFAST 2.5 MG is primarily indicated for the treatment of:
Hypertension (High Blood Pressure): It helps lower blood pressure and reduce the risk of stroke, heart attack, and kidney problems.
Chronic Heart Failure: Used in combination with other therapies to improve heart function and reduce symptoms of heart failure.
Prevention of Heart Attack: It may be prescribed for patients who have had a heart attack to reduce the risk of recurrence.
Angina: To reduce chest pain associated with heart conditions.
NEBIFAST 2.5 MG contains Nebivolol, a selective beta-1 receptor blocker (beta-blocker). Nebivolol works by blocking the beta-1 receptors in the heart, leading to a reduction in heart rate and the force of contraction. This helps lower blood pressure and reduce the workload on the heart. Nebivolol also promotes the release of nitric oxide, which helps in vasodilation (relaxing blood vessels), further reducing blood pressure and improving heart function.
For Hypertension: The usual starting dose for adults is 5 mg once daily. The dose may be adjusted based on the individual's blood pressure response.
For Heart Failure: The typical starting dose is 1.25 mg once daily, which may be gradually increased to 10 mg once daily.
For Heart Attack Prevention: The dose is generally adjusted by the physician based on individual needs.
Maximum dose: 10 mg daily for both hypertension and heart failure treatment.
NEBIFAST 2.5 MG should be taken orally, once a day, with or without food.
Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water.
Do not crush or chew the tablet.
It is important to follow the prescribed dosing schedule carefully and not to stop the medication suddenly without consulting your doctor, as doing so can worsen heart-related conditions.
NEBIFAST 2.5 MG may interact with several other medications, including:
Other antihypertensive drugs (e.g., calcium channel blockers, ACE inhibitors) which may increase the risk of low blood pressure.
Antiarrhythmic drugs (e.g., amiodarone) may increase the risk of bradycardia (slow heart rate).
Diabetic medications: Beta-blockers like Nebivolol may mask some of the symptoms of low blood sugar (hypoglycemia) such as tachycardia (fast heart rate).
Alcohol: Concurrent use may enhance the blood pressure-lowering effect of Nebivolol.
Always inform your doctor about other medications you are taking, including over-the-counter drugs and supplements.
Severe bradycardia (slow heart rate).
Heart block (degree II or III), without a pacemaker.
Severe hypotension (low blood pressure).
Severe liver impairment.
Asthma or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD): Nebivolol may worsen these conditions as it can affect the respiratory system.
Pregnancy and breastfeeding: Should be avoided unless prescribed by a doctor.
Common side effects: Headache, dizziness, fatigue, slow heart rate, nausea, and diarrhea.
Serious side effects: Bradycardia (extremely slow heart rate), hypotension (very low blood pressure), shortness of breath, swelling in the legs (fluid retention), and fainting.
Other effects: Cold hands and feet, erectile dysfunction in men, and sleep disturbances.
Pregnancy: Nebivolol is generally not recommended during pregnancy, especially during the second and third trimesters, unless the benefits outweigh the risks.
Lactation: It is not known whether Nebivolol passes into breast milk. Therefore, it should only be used during breastfeeding if clearly needed and prescribed by a doctor.
