VENTIL PLUS 100 MCG/PUFF is indicated for:
Relief of bronchospasm in patients with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD)
Acute and chronic asthma management
Treatment of emphysema and chronic bronchitis (components of COPD)
To improve breathing and lung function by relaxing airway muscles and reducing inflammation
Salbutamol is a short-acting beta-2 agonist (SABA) that works by relaxing the muscles of the airways, allowing them to widen and make breathing easier.
Ipratropium Bromide is an anticholinergic medication that works by blocking acetylcholine receptors in the lungs, helping to relax airway muscles and reduce mucus production, thus improving airflow and reducing respiratory distress.
Together, these two medications work synergistically to provide relief from the symptoms of COPD and asthma by reducing bronchospasm, promoting airflow, and improving oxygen supply to the lungs.
Adults and Children over 12 years: The typical dose is 1 to 2 puffs, up to 4 times daily or as prescribed by a healthcare provider.
Inhalation: Each puff delivers 100 mcg of Salbutamol and 20 mcg of Ipratropium Bromide.
Acute asthma attack: Inhalation may be repeated every 4 to 6 hours as needed.
Chronic COPD management: Regular use as directed by a healthcare provider, typically 1-2 puffs every 12 hours.
Shake the inhaler well before use.
Hold the inhaler upright, place the mouthpiece between your lips, and breathe in slowly while pressing down the canister.
Hold your breath for a few seconds, then exhale slowly.
Clean the inhaler regularly to prevent blockage.
Beta-blockers (e.g., propranolol) may reduce the effectiveness of Salbutamol and increase the risk of bronchospasm.
Anticholinergic drugs (e.g., atropine) may increase the effects of Ipratropium, leading to side effects like dry mouth or urinary retention.
Use caution when combining with other bronchodilators or corticosteroids.
Hypersensitivity to Salbutamol, Ipratropium Bromide, or any component of the inhaler formulation.
Not recommended for use in acute episodes of asthma or COPD without medical supervision.
Use with caution in patients with narrow-angle glaucoma, urinary retention, or prostatic hypertrophy.
Common: Dry mouth, cough, headache, dizziness, throat irritation, or a bitter taste.
Less common: Tremors, increased heart rate (tachycardia), nausea, or nervousness.
Serious: Difficulty swallowing, severe allergic reactions (rash, swelling, difficulty breathing), or paradoxical bronchospasm (worsening of symptoms after inhalation).
Pregnancy: Category C – Salbutamol and Ipratropium should be used during pregnancy only if the potential benefits outweigh the risks. Always consult a doctor.
Lactation: Both Salbutamol and Ipratropium pass into breast milk in small amounts. It is generally considered safe to use during breastfeeding, but consult a doctor for advice.
Combination bronchodilator (Beta-agonist and Anticholinergic)
Store at room temperature (20-25°C), away from direct sunlight and moisture. Keep the inhaler away from heat sources and out of reach of children. Do not puncture or burn the canister.
