Indications:
T CEF 400 MG is used for treating bacterial infections such as bronchitis, pneumonia, urinary tract infections, otitis media, and pharyngitis.
Pharmacology:
Cefixime is a third-generation cephalosporin antibiotic that inhibits bacterial cell wall synthesis, causing bacterial cell death. It is effective against a wide range of Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria.
Dosage:
Adults: 400 mg once or twice daily as prescribed.
Children: Dosage adjusted according to body weight and physician’s advice.
Administration:
Take orally with or without food. Swallow the tablet whole with water.
Interaction:
May interact with antacids, probenecid, and nephrotoxic drugs. Consult your physician about other medications.
Contraindications:
Hypersensitivity to cefixime, cephalosporins, or penicillin antibiotics.
History of severe allergic reactions to beta-lactam antibiotics.
Side Effects:
Common side effects include diarrhea, nausea, abdominal pain, rash, dizziness, and allergic reactions.
