Indications:
Ramicard 2.5 mg Tablet is indicated for:
Hypertension (high blood pressure)
Heart failure
Post-myocardial infarction (heart attack)
Reduction of cardiovascular risk in high-risk patients
Diabetic and non-diabetic nephropathy
Pharmacology:
Ramipril is an ACE inhibitor that, after conversion to its active form ramiprilat, inhibits the enzyme angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE). This inhibition decreases the production of angiotensin II, leading to vasodilation, reduced secretion of aldosterone, and decreased blood pressure.
Dosage:
Hypertension: Initial dose 2.5 mg once daily; maintenance 2.5–5 mg/day; maximum 10 mg/day.
Heart Failure: Initial dose 1.25 mg once daily; maintenance 2.5–5 mg/day; maximum 10 mg/day.
Post-Myocardial Infarction: Initial dose 2.5 mg twice daily; increase to 5 mg twice daily after 2 days; maintenance 5 mg twice daily.
Cardiovascular Risk Reduction: Initial dose 2.5 mg once daily; increase to 5 mg once daily after 1 week; maintenance 10 mg once daily.
Renal Impairment: Adjust dosage based on creatinine clearance; maximum 5 mg/day.
Administration:
Take Ramicard 2.5 mg Tablet orally with or without food. Swallow the tablet whole with water; do not chew or crush. For patients with difficulty swallowing, consult a healthcare provider for alternative administration methods.
Interaction:
Potassium Supplements: May increase potassium levels; avoid concurrent use.
Diuretics: May enhance hypotensive effect; monitor blood pressure.
NSAIDs: May reduce antihypertensive effect; use with caution.
Lithium: May increase lithium levels; monitor serum levels.
Contraindications:
Known hypersensitivity to ramipril or any component of the formulation.
History of angioedema.
Severe renal impairment (creatinine clearance <10 mL/min).
Pregnancy and lactation.

Pregnancy & Lactation:
Ramipril is contraindicated during pregnancy and lactation. Discontinue use immediately if pregnancy is detected. Alternative medications should be considered.
