Indications:
TIFAL syrup is indicated for relief of mild to moderate pain such as headache, toothache, muscle pain, and for reducing fever due to various causes.
Pharmacology:
Paracetamol works by inhibiting the synthesis of prostaglandins in the central nervous system and through peripheral action by blocking pain impulse generation. It also acts on the hypothalamic heat-regulating center to reduce fever.
Dosage:
Adults: 500-1000 mg every 4 to 6 hours as needed, not exceeding 4 grams per day.
Children: Dose based on weight, typically 10-15 mg/kg per dose every 4-6 hours, not exceeding 60 mg/kg per day.
Administration:
Orally, with or without food. Shake well before use. Use the measuring device provided for accurate dosing.
Interaction:
Paracetamol may interact with drugs like warfarin (increased bleeding risk) and other hepatotoxic drugs. Use with caution and inform your physician.
Contraindications:
Hypersensitivity to paracetamol or any component of the formulation. Severe liver impairment.
Side Effects:
Rare but may include allergic reactions, skin rash, liver damage with overdose, nausea, and vomiting.
Pregnancy & Lactation:
Generally considered safe when used in recommended doses. Consult a physician before use.
