Indications:
Divastin 10 mg is indicated for hypercholesterolemia, mixed dyslipidemia, and prevention of cardiovascular disease.
Pharmacology:
Atorvastatin is an HMG-CoA reductase inhibitor (statin) that lowers LDL cholesterol by inhibiting cholesterol synthesis in the liver.
Dosage:
Usually given once daily, with or without food.
Dose may be adjusted depending on response and clinical condition.
Administration:
Oral use, swallow whole with water. Consistent timing daily is advised.
Interaction:
May interact with other lipid-lowering agents, certain antibiotics, antifungals, and immunosuppressants. Monitor liver function tests regularly.
Contraindications:
Hypersensitivity to atorvastatin
Active liver disease or unexplained persistent elevations of liver enzymes
Pregnancy and lactation
Side Effects:
Common side effects include headache, muscle pain, gastrointestinal disturbances, and elevated liver enzymes. Rarely, rhabdomyolysis may occur.
