Indications:
Dialiptin M 850mg is indicated for the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus, especially when diet and exercise alone do not provide adequate glycemic control or when monotherapy is insufficient.
Pharmacology:
Metformin: Reduces hepatic glucose production and improves insulin sensitivity to enhance peripheral glucose uptake.
Sitagliptin: Inhibits the enzyme DPP-4, increasing incretin hormone levels, which boosts insulin secretion and suppresses glucagon release, lowering blood sugar levels.
Dosage:
Usually administered as one tablet once or twice daily with meals, adjusted based on patient response and physician advice.
Administration:
Oral intake with meals to minimize gastrointestinal side effects. Swallow tablet whole with water.
Interaction:
Potential interactions with other antidiabetics, digoxin, diuretics, and iodinated contrast agents. Close monitoring advised.
Contraindications:
Known hypersensitivity to Metformin or Sitagliptin
Severe renal impairment or acute conditions that cause hypoxia
Metabolic acidosis including diabetic ketoacidosis
Severe hepatic impairment
Side Effects:
