Indications:
METH 2.5 MG is indicated for treatment of cancers like leukemia, lymphoma, autoimmune disorders including rheumatoid arthritis, psoriasis, and severe inflammatory diseases.
Pharmacology:
Methotrexate inhibits dihydrofolate reductase enzyme, preventing folic acid activation needed for DNA and RNA synthesis, thus halting cell division and immune cell proliferation.
Dosage:
Dosage depends on the condition; typically given weekly in doses ranging from 2.5 mg to 25 mg orally or by injection, as prescribed.
Administration:
Administer orally or by injection as directed by the physician. Monitor blood counts and liver function regularly.
Interaction:
Interacts with NSAIDs, sulfonamides, penicillins, and other drugs affecting renal clearance or folate metabolism, increasing toxicity risk.
Contraindications:
Hypersensitivity to methotrexate.
