Description

রেজিস্টার্ড চিকিৎসকের পরামর্শ মোতাবেক ঔষধ সেবন করুন।

Indications:

FEXOFAST 120 MG is indicated for:

  • Allergic Rhinitis (Hay Fever): For the relief of seasonal and perennial symptoms such as sneezing, runny nose, and itchy eyes caused by allergies to pollen, dust, mold, or pet dander.

  • Urticaria (Hives): To relieve itching, swelling, and redness associated with chronic urticaria (hives).

  • Allergic Conjunctivitis: For the relief of itching and redness of the eyes due to allergic reactions.

Pharmacology:

FEXOFAST 120 MG contains Fexofenadine, a second-generation antihistamine that works by selectively blocking H1 receptors in the body, preventing histamine from binding to these receptors. Histamine is a substance produced by the immune system during allergic reactions, and it causes symptoms like itching, swelling, and runny nose. By blocking the action of histamine, Fexofenadine helps alleviate these symptoms.

Unlike first-generation antihistamines, Fexofenadine does not easily cross the blood-brain barrier, meaning it is less likely to cause drowsiness or sedation.

Dosage:

  • Adults and children (12 years and older): The typical dose is 120 mg once daily.

  • Children (6 to 11 years): The usual dose is 30 mg twice daily, but always consult your healthcare provider for specific dosage.

  • Renal Impairment: Dose adjustments may be required for patients with kidney problems. Consult your doctor.

Note: Always follow the prescribed dose from your healthcare provider.

Administration:

  • Oral administration: Take FEXOFAST 120 MG tablet with a glass of water.

  • It can be taken with or without food. However, avoid consuming fruit juices (like grapefruit, orange, or apple) while taking the medication as they can interfere with its absorption.

  • Do not chew or crush the tablet. Swallow it whole.

Interaction:

  • Antacids: Antacids containing aluminum or magnesium may reduce the absorption of Fexofenadine. It's best to take FEXOFAST 120 MG at least 2 hours before or after taking antacids.

  • Erythromycin and Ketoconazole: These drugs may increase the levels of Fexofenadine in the blood, increasing the risk of side effects.

  • Fruit juices: Citrus juices (such as orange, grapefruit, and apple) can reduce the absorption of Fexofenadine, so it is advisable to avoid these beverages when taking the medication.

Contraindications:

  • Hypersensitivity: FEXOFAST 120 MG should not be used if you are allergic to Fexofenadine or any of its inactive ingredients.

  • Severe renal impairment: Fexofenadine is primarily excreted through the kidneys, so patients with severe kidney dysfunction should use it with caution or avoid it entirely.

Side Effects:

  • Common side effects: Headache, dry mouth, dizziness, nausea, or drowsiness (though rare for this second-generation antihistamine).

  • Serious side effects: Severe allergic reactions (rash, itching, swelling), chest tightness, or difficulty breathing. These are rare but require immediate medical attention.

If you experience any of the following, seek medical help immediately:

  • Severe allergic reaction: Difficulty breathing, swelling of the face, lips, or throat.

  • Heart symptoms: Rapid or irregular heartbeat, severe dizziness, or fainting.

Pregnancy & Lactation:

  • Pregnancy: Fexofenadine is classified as Category C in pregnancy. There is limited data on its safety in pregnant women, so it should only be used if absolutely necessary and prescribed by a healthcare provider.

  • Lactation: Fexofenadine is excreted into breast milk in small amounts. It is advisable to consult a healthcare provider before using this medication while breastfeeding.

Therapeutic Class:

Antihistamine; Second-generation H1 receptor antagonist.

  • Store FEXOFAST 120 MG tablets at room temperature (15°C to 30°C).

  • Keep the tablets in a dry, cool place, away from direct sunlight and moisture.
