Indications:
MICODERM is indicated for topical treatment of fungal infections such as athlete’s foot (tinea pedis), ringworm (tinea corporis), candidiasis, and other superficial fungal infections of the skin.
Pharmacology:
Miconazole nitrate is an imidazole antifungal agent that inhibits the biosynthesis of ergosterol, a key component of fungal cell membranes. This disruption weakens the membrane, leading to fungal cell death.
Dosage:
Apply a thin layer of the cream to the affected area twice daily (morning and night) for 2 to 4 weeks or as prescribed.
Administration:
Clean and dry the affected area before application. Apply gently and wash hands after use.
Interaction:
No significant drug interactions when used topically.
Contraindications:
Hypersensitivity to miconazole or any component of the formulation.
Side Effects:
Local irritation, redness, itching, or burning sensation may occur but are usually mild and transient.
Pregnancy & Lactation:
Generally considered safe during pregnancy and lactation when used topically under medical advice.
