Indications:
D Sefa 500 mg is indicated for the treatment of bacterial infections such as pharyngitis, tonsillitis, skin and soft tissue infections, urinary tract infections (UTIs), and respiratory tract infections caused by susceptible organisms.

Pharmacology:
Cefadroxil is a first-generation cephalosporin antibiotic that works by inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis, leading to the destruction of the bacteria. It has a broad spectrum of activity against Gram-positive and some Gram-negative organisms.

Dosage:
Adults: 500 mg to 1 g twice daily, depending on the severity of infection.
Children: Dose is based on body weight and infection type, as directed by a physician.

Administration:
To be taken orally with or without food. Swallow the capsule whole with water. Maintain regular intervals between doses for effective treatment.

Interaction:
May interact with probenecid (increases serum levels of Cefadroxil). Use with caution in patients taking other nephrotoxic drugs.

Contraindications:
Contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to cephalosporin antibiotics or penicillins.

Side Effects:
Common side effects include nausea, diarrhea, stomach pain, and rash. Rarely, allergic reactions or Clostridium difficile-associated diarrhea may occur.

Pregnancy & Lactation:
Cefadroxil is considered safe during pregnancy (Category B). It is excreted in breast milk in small amounts. Use only if clearly needed and prescribed.

Precautions & Warnings:
Use with caution in patients with renal impairment. Long-term use may lead to secondary infections. Complete the full course as prescribed to prevent resistance.

Therapeutic Class:
First-generation cephalosporins

Storage Conditions:
Store in a cool and dry place, below 25°C. Protect from light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.
