Indications:

FEXOFAST 180 MG is indicated for the relief of symptoms associated with:

  • Seasonal Allergic Rhinitis: Symptoms include sneezing, runny or blocked nose, itchy or watery eyes, and itchy throat or palate.

  • Chronic Idiopathic Urticaria: Characterized by hives, itching, and skin irritation without a known cause.

Pharmacology:

FEXOFAST 180 MG contains Fexofenadine, a selective peripheral H₁-receptor antagonist. It works by blocking the action of histamine, a substance in the body that causes allergic symptoms. Fexofenadine does not cross the blood-brain barrier, minimizing sedative effects.

Dosage:

  • Adults and Children ≥12 years:

    • Allergic Rhinitis: 60 mg twice daily, 120 mg once daily, or 180 mg once daily.

    • Chronic Idiopathic Urticaria: 60 mg twice daily, 120 mg once daily, or 180 mg once daily.

  • Renal Impairment: 60 mg once daily.

  • Children 6–11 years:

    • Allergic Rhinitis: 30 mg twice daily or 60 mg once daily.

    • Chronic Idiopathic Urticaria: 30 mg twice daily or 60 mg once daily.

  • Children 2–5 years:

    • Allergic Rhinitis: 30 mg (5 ml) twice daily.

    • Chronic Idiopathic Urticaria: 30 mg (5 ml) twice daily.

Administration:

  • Take the tablet with water.

  • Preferably take it 15–30 minutes after a meal.

  • Avoid taking with fruit juices like grapefruit, orange, or apple, as they may reduce the effectiveness of the medication.

Interaction:

  • Increased Plasma Concentration: Erythromycin, Ketoconazole.

  • Decreased Absorption: Antacids containing aluminum or magnesium hydroxide.

  • Food Interactions: Fruit juices (grapefruit, orange, apple) may reduce bioavailability.

Contraindications:

  • Hypersensitivity to Fexofenadine or any component of the formulation.

  • Children under 6 years of age.

  • Patients with severe renal impairment.

Side Effects:

  • Common: Headache, drowsiness, dizziness, nausea, dry mouth, fatigue.

  • Rare: Allergic reactions such as rash, itching, or swelling.

Pregnancy & Lactation:

  • Pregnancy: Category C. Use during pregnancy only if clearly needed and prescribed by a doctor.

  • Lactation: Excreted in breast milk. Use during breastfeeding only if prescribed by a doctor.
