Indications:
Used for hypercholesterolemia, mixed dyslipidemia, and prevention of cardiovascular disease in patients with elevated cholesterol levels.
Pharmacology:
Rosuvastatin inhibits HMG-CoA reductase enzyme, reducing cholesterol synthesis in the liver, which lowers LDL and triglycerides and modestly raises HDL.
Dosage:
Typically 5 mg once daily, adjusted as per physician’s advice based on patient response.
Administration:
Oral administration with or without food. Tablets should be swallowed whole with water.
Interaction:
May interact with cyclosporine, warfarin, fibrates, and antivirals; monitor for side effects.
Contraindications:
Hypersensitivity, active liver disease, pregnancy, and breastfeeding.
Side Effects:
Possible headache, muscle pain, nausea, abdominal discomfort, and liver enzyme elevation.
Pregnancy & Lactation:
