Indications:
Resco is indicated for the management of muscle spasticity due to multiple sclerosis, spinal cord injury, or other neurological disorders.
Pharmacology:
Tizanidine is an alpha-2 adrenergic agonist that works by inhibiting motor neurons in the central nervous system, leading to decreased muscle tone and spasticity.
Dosage:
The usual starting dose is 2 mg up to three times daily; however, dosing should be individualized by the physician. For Resco 1 mg, dose adjustments may be needed based on tolerance.
Administration:
Oral administration with or without food. Tablets should be swallowed whole with water.
Interaction:
May interact with antihypertensive drugs, CNS depressants, and ciprofloxacin. Use caution and consult a doctor for potential drug interactions.
Contraindications:
Hypersensitivity to tizanidine or any components, severe liver impairment, or concurrent use with fluvoxamine or ciprofloxacin.
Side Effects:
Drowsiness, dry mouth, dizziness, hypotension, weakness, and fatigue may occur.
Pregnancy & Lactation:
Use only if clearly needed. Consult a doctor before use during pregnancy or breastfeeding.
