Indications:
TRIMET MR 35 MG is indicated for the treatment of stable angina pectoris to improve symptoms by optimizing myocardial energy metabolism.
Pharmacology:
Trimetazidine acts by inhibiting fatty acid oxidation and enhancing glucose oxidation in cardiac cells, improving energy efficiency during ischemia without affecting heart rate or blood pressure.
Dosage:
The usual dose is 35 mg twice daily, orally, preferably with meals. Dosage adjustments may be needed based on patient response.
Administration:
Take orally with water, preferably during meals to reduce gastrointestinal discomfort. Do not crush or chew the modified-release tablets.
Interaction:
May interact with antihypertensives and other cardiac drugs. Inform your physician about all medications you are taking.
Contraindications:
Hypersensitivity to trimetazidine or any component. Not recommended in patients with Parkinson’s disease or movement disorders.
Side Effects:
Possible side effects include headache, dizziness, nausea, gastrointestinal discomfort, and rare movement disorders.
Pregnancy & Lactation:
Use only if clearly needed. Consult your physician before use during pregnancy and lactation.
Therapeutic Class:
Antianginal agent; metabolic modulator.
