Pharmacology:
ACECARD 1.25 MG contains Perindopril, an angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitor. It reduces the formation of angiotensin II, a compound that causes blood vessels to tighten. By lowering angiotensin II levels, the drug relaxes blood vessels, lowers blood pressure, and reduces strain on the heart.
Dosage:

Adult Dose: Typically starts with 1.25 mg once daily

Dosage may be adjusted depending on blood pressure response and clinical condition

Maximum dose usually does not exceed 8 mg/day

Must be used under physician supervision
Administration:

Take orally with water
-
Preferably at the same time every day
-
Can be taken with or without food
-
Do not crush or chew the tablet
Interaction:

Increased risk of hypotension with diuretics
-
May increase potassium levels if taken with potassium supplements or potassium-sparing diuretics

Interaction possible with NSAIDs, lithium, and other antihypertensive agents
Contraindications:

History of angioedema with prior ACE inhibitor use

Pregnancy and lactation

Severe renal impairment

Hypersensitivity to Perindopril or other ACE inhibitors
Side Effects:

Dry persistent cough
-
Low blood pressure (especially after first dose)

Headache, dizziness, or tiredness
-
Hyperkalemia (increased potassium levels)

Rarely: Angioedema (swelling of face, lips, throat)
Pregnancy & Lactation:

Contraindicated in pregnancy – risk of birth defects or fetal injury

Use during breastfeeding only if clearly necessary and under medical supervision
Precautions & Warnings:

Monitor renal function and potassium levels regularly
-
Avoid use in patients with bilateral renal artery stenosis

Inform doctor if persistent cough or swelling occurs
