RESIDON 4 MG is used for the treatment of schizophrenia, the management of manic or mixed episodes in bipolar disorder, and addressing irritability in autism spectrum disorders.
Pharmacology:
Risperidone is a selective monoaminergic antagonist with high affinity for serotonin (5-HT2) and dopamine (D2) receptors. It regulates the imbalances in neurotransmitters in the brain, reducing psychotic symptoms and stabilizing mood.
Dosage and Administration:
Schizophrenia: The usual dosage ranges from 2-4 mg daily, adjusted based on clinical response.
Bipolar Disorder: Start with 2-3 mg daily, titrated up to a maximum of 6 mg as needed.
Administer orally with or without food.
Follow the dosage instructions given by your doctor.
Interaction:
Increased sedation may occur when used with other CNS depressants.
Risk of hypotension when combined with antihypertensive drugs.
Interaction with CYP2D6 inhibitors may alter the drug’s effectiveness.
Contraindications:
Known hypersensitivity to Risperidone or any excipient in the tablet.

Side Effects:
Common: Sedation, increased appetite, weight gain, and dizziness.

Should only be used during pregnancy if the potential benefits justify the risks.
Avoid during breastfeeding, as Risperidone may be excreted into breast milk and affect the infant.
