Indications:
Allergic rhinitis (সিজনাল বা স্থায়ী এলার্জি জনিত হাঁচি ও নাক দিয়ে পানি পড়া)
Urticaria (চর্মে লালচে ফোস্কা ও চুলকানি)
Skin allergies (ত্বকে এলার্জির প্রতিক্রিয়া)
Other allergic conditions such as hay fever
Pharmacology:
AERON 10 MG Tablet contains Loratadine, a long-acting second-generation antihistamine. It selectively inhibits peripheral H1-receptors, preventing histamine-mediated allergic symptoms. Unlike first-generation antihistamines, Loratadine is less likely to cause drowsiness as it does not cross the blood-brain barrier significantly.
Dosage:
Adults and children over 12 years: 10 mg once daily
Children aged 2–12 years (with weight >30kg): 10 mg once daily
Dose adjustments not generally required for mild to moderate renal impairment
Administration:
Taken orally with or without food
Preferably taken at the same time each day
Swallow the tablet whole with water
Interaction:
Minimal interactions; however, co-administration with ketoconazole, erythromycin, or cimetidine may increase Loratadine plasma levels
Avoid alcohol for maximum effectiveness
Contraindications:
Known hypersensitivity to Loratadine or any component of the formulation
Severe liver impairment (use with caution)
Side Effects:
Headache
Fatigue
Dry mouth
Rarely: Increased heart rate or gastrointestinal disturbances
Very rarely: Allergic reactions like rash, anaphylaxis
Pregnancy & Lactation:
Pregnancy: Category B – Use only if clearly needed and prescribed by a physician
Lactation: Loratadine may pass into breast milk; use with caution
Precautions & Warnings:
Use with caution in patients with liver dysfunction
Though non-sedating, drowsiness may still occur in some individuals
Avoid activities requiring mental alertness if drowsiness is experienced
