Indications:
SANGRIL DS 1000 MG Tablet is indicated for:
Severe respiratory tract infections such as pneumonia, bronchitis, and sinusitis.
Urinary tract infections, including pyelonephritis.
Gastrointestinal infections like typhoid fever and dysentery.
Skin and soft tissue infections caused by susceptible bacteria.
Pharmacology:
SANGRIL DS contains an active ingredient (such as cefixime, amoxicillin, or other depending on the specific formulation) that disrupts bacterial cell wall synthesis, leading to bacterial death. This action makes it effective against a wide range of Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria.
Dosage and Administration:
Adults: 1000 mg once daily or 500 mg twice daily, depending on the severity of the infection.
Administer with or without food.
Ensure the complete prescribed course is taken to prevent resistance.
Interaction:
May interact with anticoagulants like warfarin, increasing the risk of bleeding.
Concomitant use with other nephrotoxic drugs may increase the risk of kidney damage.
Probenecid can prolong the serum levels of the active ingredient.
Contraindications:
Hypersensitivity to cephalosporins, penicillins, or other beta-lactam antibiotics.
Severe renal or hepatic impairment without dose adjustment.
Side Effects:
Common: Nausea, diarrhea, abdominal pain, and rash.
Rare but serious: Severe allergic reactions, pseudomembranous colitis, and hematological abnormalities.
Pregnancy & Lactation:
Pregnancy: Safe for use if clearly needed and prescribed by a doctor.
Lactation: Caution is advised as trace amounts may be excreted in breast milk.
Precautions & Warnings:
Use with caution in patients with a history of gastrointestinal disorders or kidney dysfunction.
Discontinue immediately if an allergic reaction occurs.
Prolonged use may lead to superinfection with resistant organisms.
