Indications:
Treatment of inflammatory skin disorders such as eczema, dermatitis, and psoriasis
Relief of itching and redness in allergic skin reactions
Management of corticosteroid-responsive dermatoses
Pharmacology:
PROLIMUS contains a potent corticosteroid that suppresses the inflammatory response by inhibiting multiple inflammatory cytokines and mediators. It reduces capillary dilation, decreases edema, and suppresses immune cell activity at the application site.
Dosage & Administration:
Apply a thin layer on affected skin areas 1-2 times daily as prescribed
Avoid contact with eyes and mucous membranes
Do not apply on infected or broken skin unless directed by a doctor
Duration of treatment should be limited to avoid side effects
Interaction:
Concurrent use with other topical products may increase risk of irritation
Use caution with other systemic corticosteroids or immunosuppressants
Avoid use with occlusive dressings unless directed by physician
Contraindications:
Hypersensitivity to any component of the ointment
Untreated bacterial, fungal, or viral skin infections
Acne, rosacea, or perioral dermatitis
Side Effects:
Possible skin thinning, dryness, or irritation with prolonged use
Rare: Stretch marks, pigmentation changes, secondary infections
Avoid long-term continuous use to prevent systemic absorption
Pregnancy & Lactation:
Use only if benefits outweigh risks; consult physician
Minimal systemic absorption but caution advised during pregnancy and breastfeeding
Precautions & Warnings:
Do not use on large surface areas for prolonged periods
Avoid sudden discontinuation after long-term use to prevent rebound
Monitor for signs of skin infection during treatment
