Indications:
EVANIA 10 MG is indicated for:
Management of hypertension (high blood pressure)
Treatment of chronic stable angina
Vasospastic (Prinzmetal’s) angina
Prevention of cardiovascular events in at-risk patients
Pharmacology:
EVANIA contains Amlodipine Besylate, a long-acting dihydropyridine calcium channel blocker. It inhibits the influx of calcium ions into vascular smooth muscle and cardiac muscle, resulting in vasodilation and reduced blood pressure. It also decreases myocardial oxygen demand by reducing afterload.
Dosage & Administration:
Adults: 5–10 mg once daily; usual dose is 5 mg, may be increased to 10 mg based on patient response.
Elderly or hepatic impairment: Start at the lower dose (5 mg).
Can be taken with or without food.
Interaction:
Potentiation of antihypertensive effect with other BP-lowering agents (e.g., ACE inhibitors, diuretics)
Caution with CYP3A4 inhibitors (e.g., ketoconazole, erythromycin) – may increase amlodipine levels
May increase exposure to simvastatin
Contraindications:
Known hypersensitivity to amlodipine
Severe hypotension
Cardiogenic shock
Aortic stenosis (severe)
Unstable angina (during dose titration)
Side Effects:
Common: Edema (especially ankle), dizziness, headache, flushing, fatigue
Less common: Palpitations, nausea, abdominal pain
Rare: Hepatic dysfunction, allergic reactions, gingival hyperplasia
Pregnancy & Lactation:
Use only if clearly needed during pregnancy. Not recommended during lactation unless prescribed by a physician.
Precautions & Warnings:
Caution in patients with hepatic impairment, heart failure, or severe aortic stenosis
Monitor blood pressure regularly
Gradual dose adjustment is advised to avoid hypotension
Therapeutic Class:
Calcium Channel Blockers (Dihydropyridine group)
Storage Conditions:
Store in a cool, dry place below 30°C. Protect from light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.
