DANILO 90MG Tablet is indicated for:
Treatment of hypertension (high blood pressure).
Management of chronic stable angina and variant angina (Prinzmetal's angina).
Heart rate control in atrial fibrillation and supraventricular tachycardia.
Diltiazem is a calcium channel blocker that inhibits the movement of calcium ions into the cardiac and vascular smooth muscle cells. It reduces myocardial oxygen demand, improves oxygen delivery, decreases peripheral resistance, and lowers blood pressure, making it suitable for cardiovascular conditions like hypertension and angina.
Hypertension: 60-90 mg twice daily, titrated based on clinical response.
Angina: 90-120 mg daily, divided into two or three doses.
Administration: Take orally with or without food. Swallow tablets whole without crushing or chewing.
Drug Interactions:
Potentiates the effects of beta-blockers, digoxin, and antihypertensive medications.
CYP3A4 inhibitors or inducers may alter Diltiazem levels.
Food Interactions: Grapefruit juice can increase plasma concentration of Diltiazem; avoid concurrent consumption.
Severe hypotension (systolic BP <90 mmHg).
Recent myocardial infarction with pulmonary congestion.
Second- or third-degree AV block without a functioning pacemaker.
Common side effects:
Dizziness, fatigue.
Nausea, headache.
Rare or severe side effects:
Bradycardia, hypotension.
Peripheral edema, rash.
Pregnancy: Should be used only if potential benefits outweigh the risks (Category C).
Lactation: Diltiazem may pass into breast milk; consult a physician before use.
Use cautiously in patients with liver or kidney impairment.
Regularly monitor heart rate and blood pressure during treatment.
Avoid abrupt discontinuation to prevent rebound angina or hypertension.
Calcium channel blocker (non-dihydropyridine).
Store in a cool, dry place below 30°C.
Protect from light and moisture.
Keep out of reach of children.
