Indications:
HUMALOG MIX 25 Cartridge is indicated for:

Type 1 and type 2 diabetes mellitus

Patients requiring a combination of mealtime and basal insulin

Improved glycemic control around meals and between meals
Pharmacology:
HUMALOG MIX 25 is a biphasic insulin analog consisting of:
-
25% Insulin Lispro (rapid-acting)
-
75% Insulin Lispro Protamine Suspension (intermediate-acting)
This combination provides both immediate and sustained glucose-lowering effect.

Onset of action: Within 15 minutes
-
Peak action: 1 to 6 hours
-
Duration: Up to 12–16 hours
Dosage & Administration:
-
Inject subcutaneously within 15 minutes before meals
-
Dose individualized per physician’s recommendation
-
Administer using a compatible 3 mL insulin delivery device
-
Rotate injection sites to avoid lipodystrophy
-
Not for intravenous or intramuscular use
-
Do not mix with other insulins in the cartridge
Interaction:
-
Increased hypoglycemic effect with: alcohol, MAOIs, ACE inhibitors, beta-blockers
-
Decreased insulin effectiveness with: corticosteroids, oral contraceptives, thyroid hormones

Monitor blood glucose closely with interacting medications
Contraindications:

Known hypersensitivity to Insulin Lispro or excipients

During episodes of hypoglycemia
Side Effects:

Common: Hypoglycemia, injection site pain/swelling, lipodystrophy

Rare: Allergic reactions, rash, edema, weight gain
Pregnancy & Lactation:

Can be used during pregnancy under close monitoring

Safe during lactation; insulin does not pass into breastmilk in significant amounts
Precautions & Warnings:

Do not use if insulin appears cloudy with particles before mixing

Monitor blood glucose frequently

Educate patient on hypoglycemia symptoms and management

Do not share cartridges or devices between individuals

Proper storage essential for insulin efficacy

Storage Conditions:

Unopened: Store in a refrigerator (2–8°C); do not freeze

In use: Store below 30°C and discard after 28 days
