VECTRA 16 MG TABLET is indicated for the treatment of vertigo, tinnitus, hearing loss, and nausea associated with Meniere’s disease and vestibular disorders.
Pharmacology:
Betahistine is a histamine analog that works by improving blood flow to the inner ear, reducing pressure, and stabilizing balance. It also acts on histamine H1 and H3 receptors to control vertigo symptoms.
Dosage & Administration:
Adults: 8-16 mg three times daily, preferably with meals to reduce gastric discomfort.
Children: Not recommended without physician consultation.
Continue the treatment as prescribed to achieve optimal results.
Interaction:
Concurrent use with antihistamines may reduce the efficacy of Betahistine.
No significant interactions with other medications are reported.
Contraindications:
Hypersensitivity to Betahistine or any component of the tablet.
Not recommended for patients with pheochromocytoma.
Side Effects:
Common: Nausea, headache, and mild gastric discomfort.
Rare: Skin rash or allergic reactions.
Pregnancy & Lactation:
Not recommended during pregnancy unless absolutely necessary.
Caution should be exercised during lactation as safety data is limited.
Precautions & Warnings:
Use with caution in patients with peptic ulcers, asthma, or severe hypotension.
Avoid abrupt discontinuation without medical advice.
