TEANA 40 MG is indicated for the treatment of hypertension and to reduce the risk of cardiovascular morbidity and mortality in patients at high risk for heart disease.
Pharmacology:
Telmisartan is an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB) that works by blocking the vasoconstrictor and aldosterone-secreting effects of angiotensin II, leading to blood vessel relaxation and reduced blood pressure.
Dosage & Administration:

Recommended dosage: One 40 mg tablet daily, taken at the same time each day.

Can be taken with or without food. Swallow the tablet whole with water.
Interaction:

Avoid combination with potassium supplements, potassium-sparing diuretics, lithium, and NSAIDs.

May increase the risk of hyperkalemia when combined with other medications affecting potassium levels.
Contraindications:

Hypersensitivity to Telmisartan or any excipients in the formulation.

Severe liver impairment or biliary obstruction.
Side Effects:

Common: Dizziness, headache, fatigue, and nausea.

Rare: Hyperkalemia, hypotension, or angioedema.
Pregnancy & Lactation:

Contraindicated during pregnancy due to potential fetal harm.

Not recommended during lactation unless absolutely necessary.
Precautions & Warnings:

Monitor renal function and potassium levels, particularly in patients with renal impairment or those on potassium-sparing drugs.

Use with caution in patients with severe aortic or mitral valve stenosis.
